I grew up in Portland, Oregon. I enjoy visiting Portland on occasion. It's a beautiful city. I've ran the Portland Marathon a couple of times, and running through downtown always brings back memories of my boyhood.
From 1984 to 1994 I lived in the San Francisco Bay Area, working in the software industry. There I met and married my wife Theresa, and my three daughters (Lea, Lisa, Lana) were born. I have to say I enjoyed living there but I worked too much to enjoy all that the Bay Area has to offer.
Microsoft hired me in early 1995 as a software engineer. First I worked on Encarta (RIP), and then in the MSN division, and for the last five years I've been a development lead on the Internet Explorer team. See the IEBlog for more about that.
My main hobby is triathlon, specifically Ironman distance. That's mostly what I blog about (which by now you've figured out).
