I am so excited right now - I just signed up for Ironman Arizona 2007. I had a great time participating in IMAZ 2006 and my whole family enjoyed the event. I have definitely forgotten the hassles of winter training and I'm just remembering the joy of crossing that finish line.
I have a full year to train since the next Ironman Arizona is April 15th, 2007. Now that I'm already at Ironman level training, I hope to keep in shape all year and really blow away my 13:21 performance this year.
I'm considering this list of events:
- Issaquah Triathlon on June 3rd. This is just a sprint distance, but Issaquah was the first triathlon I competed in (back in 2003) and I'd like to see if I'm faster than before.
- Flying Wheels century on June 17th. Considered the classic prep for STP, probably ride it with Tony and Laurel and others are first-time STP riders.
- Seafair Marathon here in Bellevue on July 9th.
- The two day Seattle to Portland Classic (STP) on July 15th-16th. I rode this as a one-day event in 2004.
- A half-iron triathlon in the early fall, or maybe a full iron distance if I'm totally nuts. I'm considering Lake Stevens 70.3
- The Portland Marathon on October 1st.
- Perhaps an Iron-distance event in late fall (perhaps Silverman in Las Vegas in November).
- Then a 20 week training program to IMAZ in April.
And I'd probably squeeze in a 5K here and there.
