Danny, our Corgi. Cutest. Puppy. Ever.

We now have a loveable little Pembroke Welsh Corgi puppy named Danny. He's a little over 10 weeks old, and he's just the cutest little guy! 

Here's Danny on the afternoon of his second day at the house two weeks ago.  He's tuckered out from the love he's been getting from his new family.  

Danny has already been showing his Corgi personality: intelligent and interested in all that's going on around him, spirited and energetic.

We had talked on and off about getting a new dog since Ginnie passed, despite making a New Year's Resolution against getting new pets. But it turned out that the house is just too quiet without a dog. My wife says in the daytime when she's home alone, it can get downright lonely. 

When Ginnie was with us, you could always count on her to keep you company.  She'd lay on the floor nearby the desk as I work on the computer, or she'd lay nearby as we watched TV.  She'd always come over to nuzzle your hand and was happy to accept a quick little petting as you'd go by.  We all missed her sweetness.

And while Snowball, our white domestic shorthair, is a fine cat, she isn't the most "emotionally giving" cat.  Affection with Snowie is all pretty much on her terms. Not a great substitute for the companionship of Ginnie.

So Theresa found several breeders to interview, and after visiting two in person we settled on puppies from Heather in Marysville. She clearly takes excellent care of her dogs, and she easily passed all our list of "questions you should ask your breeder".  She both breeds and shows dogs, and her "dog room" was lined with awards and trophies.  She had several puppies to choose from in the "pet quality" category (as opposed to "show quality" dogs that are expected to grow up to exactly fit the breed standard).  We liked this little guy's personality from the start.  Here's Lana holding Danny on our second visit to see him.  He's about 6 weeks old and his personality really shined.

Everyone loves Danny, and he basks in the attention.  He knows he's cute!  Of course, as a puppy he's a lot of work, but thankfully he is fairly housebroken for his age (thanks Heather!) and sleeps through the night.  We have a book on puppy training which seems to work well, and when he's at 12 weeks we'll be able to start his "official" training.  Until then, he just gets to play around and be loved!

My family and I lost our beloved Pembroke Welsh Corgi, Daisy, to a tumor that was on the base of her brain. Daisy was only 5 years old. We miss her terribly. We are interested in the future of getting another Pembroke Welsh Corgi. By any chance could you give my family and I any information on breeders in the New York area. That would be appreciated.
